FIXED TEETH WITH IMPLANTS: We in Sweden can be proud of Professor Per-Ingvar Brånemark’s discover. He was the man who found that bone tissue can heal around the metal titanium.
Thanks to his work, millions of people have all their teeth securely in place once more.

Implant treatments have been carried out for almost 45 years. Over this time methods have naturally improved, refined and not least streamlined.

Dental implants are usually fitted surgically. In the operation, the implant is screwed into the jaw bone. During the healing phase, the cells in the jaw bone bind firmly with the titanium surface of the implant. The healing phase takes about 8-12 weeks, although complete healing is only achieved after about 2 years

After the healing phase, the implant forms an artificial root to which the dentist can attach the tooth. Just when the implant can be put to use, i.e. when the new teeth can be attached, depends on the bone quality and how many implants have been fitted. As a rule, the new teeth can be attached within 2-12 weeks. Our animated videos can show you more about how the implant works.
You’ll find them under videos in the menu.

How long does a dental implant last?
That depends on a number of factors. One of the most important is whether the treatment was carried out by an experienced dentist who frequently carries out implant surgery.

A whole range of research papers have documented that 95% implants are successful. Many advances have been made since those papers were published and Team Lennartsson has a considerably higher success rate.

Some patients do have a slightly higher risk of suffering problems with their implants. The risk groups include people who smoke, have poorly managed diabetes, have previously suffered periodontitis or whose oral hygiene is poor..

If the implant does come loose, which is extremely rare, a new operation is carried out. Read more under Before the operation.
